Dear Daughter,
As you grow and navigate through life, you will encounter many people, each with their own stories, intentions, and values. One of the most valuable lessons you can learn is that trust is not freely given; it is earned.
Trust is a precious commodity, and it takes time to build. It’s important to remember that the people we allow into our lives can significantly impact our happiness, well-being, and overall journey. That’s why being selective about who you let in is essential. Take the time to observe and understand the individuals around you. Ask yourself questions like: Do they respect me? Are they honest with themselves and with others? Do they uplift me and support my dreams?
Building trust often requires shared experiences and a willingness to be vulnerable. It’s about being able to rely on someone during difficult times, knowing they will be there for you without judgment. When you find someone who consistently demonstrates kindness, integrity, and respect, you can start to build that trust. Remember, however, that trust is fragile and can take years to establish but only moments to break.
It’s also crucial to trust your instincts. If something feels off about a relationship, don’t ignore that feeling. Your intuition is a powerful guide, and it can help you avoid pitfalls that might come from placing your trust in the wrong person. Surround yourself with those who treat you well, who inspire you to be your best self, and who contribute positively to your life.
As you go through life, invest your trust wisely. It may mean that you will have to say no to certain people or situations, and that’s perfectly okay. Sometimes, stepping back is necessary for your own safety and peace of mind. Remember, it’s better to have a few trustworthy friends than to have many people who do not have your best interests at heart.
Always cherish and nurture the trust you build with others, but also be mindful and protective of yourself. You are deserving of relationships that honor and respect you, and I hope you always choose wisely as you open yourself up to the world.
I love you with all my heart and am always here for you.
With all my love,
Mom
